Meaningful Moment is a dedicated community of parents and educators united by our commitment to providing our children with the essential tools, values, and guidance to lead happy, healthy lives while making positive contributions to society.

 

In recent times, we have grown increasingly concerned about the alarming rise in mental health issues among young people, with a staggering 1 in 5 teenagers experiencing a Major Depressive Episode this year! Additionally, the prevalence of drug use and the profound influence of social media on shaping their values, with the average teen spending over 8 hours a day on their phones, have added to our worries. 

 

In addition, the widespread use of technology by both children and their parents has resulted in a decline of meaningful conversations within families. As a consequence, discussions about their aspirations, moral compass, and sense of identity as individuals and responsible members of society are often neglected. Instead, children are increasingly deriving their values from video games and basing their life goals on the standards set by social media.

 

Recognizing the urgency to intervene, we have taken the initiative to step in and create a Meaningful Moment based on the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson who received a congressional gold medal for his contributions to the world of education.

 

Our approach is not about introducing something new; rather, it centers on helping parents set aside a few minutes each evening or weekend to engage in these vital conversations with their children. By doing so, we aim to create a strong foundation for our children's development. 

 

Moreover, we facilitate the integration of these conversations into their daily routine by working with schools and setting aside the first minute of the school day allowing children to meditate on these conversations and life lessons. This practice empowers them throughout the day, and sets the foundation for their future, as they reflect on internalizing the values, and making them their own. It is through this simple yet powerful tool that we hope to foster the resilience and passion necessary for their success in school and beyond.

 

Our mission is to provide schools, parents, and children with all the necessary resources to have a Meaningful Moment at the start of each school day. Over the past year, our community has made a significant impact on the lives of over 26,000 children across 7 states, supporting them in navigating the challenges of growing up in the digital age while fostering strong family bonds.
